maybe if UR had a better system overall you want to have people waiting 24 hours on the ED. y and you want to have providers burnt out and you probably wouldn't have support stuff coming through departments like a rotating door.

I was abused at CPEP when the ED at Strong was way over capacity. Since I had a diagnosis of Bipolar disorder I was sent to the locked psychiatric ward. However, I was NOT having a psychiatric crisis. I was having a Chronic Kidney Disease crisis. My psychiatric nurse practitioner who practices at U of R prescribed Lithium which was a poor decision in light of CKD. After 10 days I began having symptoms of kidney failure and I went to the UR Urgent Care in Perinton. I was sent by ambulance and was taken to the locked ward where I was stripped of all dignity including my clothing, phone and purse. I told them I’m having a kidney disease crises. The ED doc drew a lithium level to check for lithium toxicity. I realized early on that I had no voice on that unit. After 6 hours my lithium level came back in normal range. They discharged me not realizing I actually was experiencing lithium toxicity which stressed my kidneys. In fact when I saw my nephrologist I did have lithium toxicity. My EFGR went from the 40s to the 20s indicating serious kidney insult. I consider that I was injured by the experience of being stripped of my humanity.

I generally just hold off until I need a minimum of two ivs, then it’s close enough I get seen quickly. Life threatening is the only way I’ll go.

Waited 6 hours plus last year at Strong. Vending machines didn’t work. Had to ask nurse for water. Could you make the wait a little more comfortable?

well it does not help that like 80% of people going to the emergency room is Bs and should go to their primary care or urgent care .

My husband was almost killed at a URMC hospital & they threw up their lawyers at us IMMEDIATELY. Even thought the MD was censured, transferred and a class on what happened was given to other MDs as a "what not to do." GFY, your corporate vampires.

Furthermore, I know about health care. I worked for 35 years as a nurse midwife. No one listened to me. I’m still angry. I was in CPEP on February 5 2026.
