'Thou shalt not steal.' God IS against slavery. Theft is exactly what slavery is. Moses' law endorsed slavery for the inhabitants whom refused to leave from land Egypt owned by conquest and ceded to their former slaves. Regulating slavery is not equal to endorsing it. All states regulate alcohol, many states regulate Marijuana use; these are not endorsements, but recognitions some people are going to use them whether they are illegalized or not, so it is simply a practical recognition that to lessen their otherwise much more harmful affects, laws limiting how a thing is done or used is still more helpful to society than no regulation at all. Also, the land of Canaan//Israel was a major crossroads and trade route for many traveller's from other nations traveling back and forth between them. Many if not most of the slaves Moses law was intended to regulate was treatment of slaves owned by citizens of other nations passing through their country on business. Because of this foreign travel through the land, even if Moses had outright explicitly banned slavery other than commanding not to steal, for Israel's own citizens, such regulatiob in their law code was still necessary, because same as here today, Israeli laws back then had no jurisdiction over what the governments of other nations permitted THEIR citizens to do.

What makes you think that what he requires of us is subject to him??? in the old testament that was referenced when the women and children were permitted to be killed do you have any understanding of what would have happened to them by another military after israel conquered them. why do you think your morality code is above God's?? the bible talks about if you own a slave treat them good not bad. ppl back then would literally sell themselves into slavery if they couldn't pay a debt. the bible doesn't condone slavery at any point in the bible. your understanding is not God's understanding and clearly you don't know and have never read the bible.
