@in.good.hands.collective: 2 things I’m telling all my feeding families we will NOT be doing in our infant feeding sessions to promote a happy and comfortable feeding experience *note: tactile sensitive babies sometimes have a negative experience with food on their face and they are the outliers here, we handle that differently in feeding therapy ☺️ ✨Get my Starting Solids Guide in my profile if you’re ready to introduce solid foods to your baby and get started on the right foot! My Starting Solids Guide covers: ✅ When to start & signs of readiness ✅ Proper high chair positioning & troubleshooting ✅ Recommended high chairs & floor seats ✅ Purees vs. baby-led weaning (BLW) ✅ Starter foods & iron-rich foods ✅ Introducing allergens safely ✅ Choking hazards vs. gagging ✅ Feeding schedules by age ✅ Sensory play & oral motor development ✅ Preventing picky eating & mealtime stress ✅ What’s normal vs. concerning ✅ Water intake & teething ✅ Teaching straw & open cup drinking ✅ Utensil skills & product recommendations #startingsolids #babyfeeding #feedingtherapy #babyfood
I spoon feed half of the puree and my baby gets loaded spoons for the other half. when i spoon feed I let my 7 month old lean forward towards the spoon. I wanted to do baby led weaning but my baby vomits from anything solid including oatmeal unless its thinned out. 😭

I am an OT as well and have the same philosophy but I have a dilemma! My baby has allergies and I am supposed to give him the same thing (muffin with egg and dairy in it) every day to expose him to the allergen. He needs to eat it but is not always interested. I am struggling!

Maybe someone already asked... but if your baby has a pretty big bite in their mouth, and they go for more/ take another bite should you let them? Or encourage them to wait till they swallow the food in their mouth first?

how do you figure to feed a 4 month old cereal then because she's definitely not picking the spoon up & putting it in her mouth by herself

My 7mo old gags and turns red when purées / teething dissolvable crackers. I’ve been doing the steps in the video and he’s been doing this for about 3mo now. Eventually he does end up swallowing the food and is okay. But it really scares me to even try normal solids because he seems to be struggling a little bit. Are there any tips to help? Right now I’m slacking and only sitting him down to eat maybe once a day so I plan on giving him more opportunities

Any suggestions for my baby who has verrry sensitive skin? We started as you describe but ended up with very irritated skin + yeasty rash + eczema flare up because of the food sitting on her skin 🥲

I need help! My 3 month old is pretty much EBF and used to take bottles with formula or breast milk perfectly fine, now she refuses a bottle. I need tips, anything, on how to fix this because I can’t always feed her

My baby is extremely excited about food though and eats all of it. He's just also very small and doesn't know how to get it to his own mouth. What am I supposed to do?

Oh gosh! Such valuable info!! I do the wiping and scraping when feeding my 14 month old grandson! I will stop. I also say get-a-bite like a game. Ugh. 😳

Sorry if this is a dumb question but does this only apply to babies in feeding therapy or is this advice for anyone starting foods with baby?

Would the same rule also apply to water? 1/2 twins always keeps her mouth completely shut when I offer her water from a sippy cup… trying not to get too discouraged by it😭

Is it okay to wipe every once in awhile? We are just starting some purées but the drool is at MAX these days so I feel like sometimes it’s too much at once for my daughter when trying new things

I’m having such a hard time making myself feed my baby, I’m on the spectrum and wet stick slimy messy food makes me want to crawl out of my skin. I feel like my baby needs a bath after every feed and so the idea of getting the undressed, feeding them, bathing them, and getting them dressed multiple times a day is super overwhelming

My 3 month old is on Pepcid so in the morning she gets impatient waiting for her bottle (while I’m waiting for her medicine to kick in) I eat my bowl of grits and I use one of her rubber spoons with nothing on it and pretend feed her. I take a bite. She takes a pretend bite. She gets a kick out of it and I get breakfast in peace while she waits for her bottle 😅 I’m hoping it makes it more exciting when she actually gets flavor on the spoon when we start solids!
