For some people Botox can help with TMJ, but it has a lot of possible cons because it can mess with how you swallow and speak. It can also be pretty bad if you're hypermobile because it can destabilize your jaw further

so I don't have TMJ, but I clench my teeth so hard at night that I wake up with jaw pain and my tooth is being pushed forward and a while back I was getting botox regularly for my Bell's Palsy and it helped with jaw pain, nerve pain, etc soooooo much. I was so relieved and got 25 injections before my Dr stopped doing it. Personally it was a game changer for me :)))

I have a coworker with TMJ and she says that the botox does genuinely help. Botox scares me so I probably won't consider it but I don't see any reason why you shouldn't consider it as a legit medical solution to a legit medical concern.

I got it for grinding teeth and the relief was nice, but I had to get it two times because it goes so deep. But it does soften ur face

I get it for migraines and TMJ. As long as you don’t do it too often because that tendon can become loose. One time my jaw dislocated… I was getting it done every 10 weeks with my migraine Botox and it turns out that it was too often. Now I do it every other time and it’s all good. Side note: dislocating your jaw hurts worse than TMJ.

Is it just your jaw that hurts because if it’s not tmj, trigeminal neuralgia can cause jaw pain!

I also grind and clench, I have a night guard that does help. I also went to see my chiropractor (he’s really great) and had him look at the situation, he was able to help and show me some stretches (kind of) that help loosen everything. Also I work for an orthodontist, you can have clear retainers made by the same company as Invisalign, they might help you and aren’t expensive.

GIRLYPOP NO botox for TMJ is for more extreme cases where its treatment resistant. depending on what the patience 0 reason is for your TMJ getting botox in your jaw could just move the pain to your tension band around your head or your neck i would HIGHLY suggest going and talking to a reputable TMJ specialist before you do botox and for the love of god if you still have your wisdom teeth DO NOT GET THEM OUT. DO NOT TOUCH THEM UNTIL YOU HAVE COMPLETED TMJ TREATMENT.

As someone who has severe TMJ and cant afford botox: if you think theres a chance it will make your life even a little bit more comfortable, do it.

It has a lot of medical uses for folks with chronic pain, like TMJ, or for excessive sweating? That's great. Also, people can jump on your back for not wanting to show your aging, but at the same time theyre outnumbered by an onslaught of people telling us that wrinkles are bad, older women lose value, etc., etc. I also can sympathize with someone not wanting visual proof that theyre getting closer to death... so go for it. It aging gives you body dysphoria or makes you less confident, do what you want to do. Youre not going to worry about other's opinion on botox when youre 98 and a caregiver is cleaning your bum for the 5th time that day.

I get Botox from the pain clinic for migraines.. they work, but on the other hand for all the girls in the comments, don’t get any filler if you are planning to go on a weight loss journey. My sister did and had to get it corrected after she lost weight, even though they said “ it only last a few weeks” no that filler stays around and if you lose a lot of weight, you have to get it corrected because it makes your face look weird.
