#shopmecamap #tamsu #chuyengiadinh #giadinh #mebau #mechong

If you’re visiting Edinburgh and standing at North Bridge with only a few minutes left to catch your train, don’t panic! Let me show you a beautiful shortcut that many visitors might easily miss. Look beside the famous Scotsman Hotel. You’ll see a sign pointing towards Waverley Station via the Scotsman Steps. Follow that sign, and you’ll discover this colourful staircase leading down towards the station. But these steps are more than just a shortcut. They have an interesting history! The Scotsman Steps were built around the turn of the twentieth century, between 1899 and 1902, as part of the building that originally housed the offices of The Scotsman newspaper. Today, that historic building is home to the Scotsman Hotel. Now, look closely at the steps. Can you see all those different colours? Each step features a different type of marble, creating a beautiful rainbow effect against Edinburgh’s traditional stone architecture. This wonderful transformation was created by British artist Martin Creed in 2011. His artwork is called Work Number 1059, turning an ordinary public staircase into a unique piece of art that visitors can enjoy for free. Imagine how many people have walked up and down these steps over more than a century! They connect the busy streets around North Bridge with Market Street, beside Edinburgh Waverley Station. And here’s the practical tip: if you’re near North Bridge or the Scotsman Hotel and need to reach the station, these steps can save you from taking a longer walking route. Depending on your pace, you can descend in around two minutes. However, if you have heavy luggage, mobility difficulties, or need step-free access, remember that this route involves stairs. Also, take care when the steps are wet, as the surface can become slippery. Once you reach the bottom, you’ll be right beside the Market Street entrance to Waverley Station. From there, follow the station signs to find your platform. So next time you visit Edinburgh, don’t just walk past the Scotsman Hotel. Discover this colourful hidden gem, enjoy a little piece of history, and remember this useful shortcut! Save this video, share it with someone planning a trip to Edinburgh, and follow for more travel tips, historic places, and hidden gems across Scotland. #Edinburgh #ScotsmanSteps #WaverleyStation #EdinburghTravel #HiddenGems
