If you've ever wondered how someone can be so kind to everyone else but so difficult with the person they're supposed to love the most, here are a few things worth thinking about. --- 1️⃣ SOME PEOPLE CARE MORE ABOUT THEIR REPUTATION THAN THEIR RELATIONSHIPS There's nothing wrong with wanting people to think highly of you. The problem is when protecting your public image becomes more important than protecting your marriage. Some men go out of their way to help friends, be polite to strangers, and make sure everyone sees them as kind and generous. Meanwhile, the woman they come home to every night feels ignored, criticized, or emotionally neglected. --- 2️⃣ HE MAY BE TAKING YOUR COMMITMENT FOR GRANTED Strangers have options. Colleagues can avoid you, friends can stop calling, and neighbors can keep their distance if they don't like how you treat them. A wife is different. Some men become so comfortable knowing their wife isn't likely to leave that they slowly stop putting in the same effort they gave when they were trying to win her over. They assume she'll always be there, so they stop trying as hard. --- 3️⃣ YOU START QUESTIONING YOUR OWN EXPERIENCE When everyone keeps telling you how lucky you are, it's easy to start doubting yourself. You begin wondering if you're too sensitive or expecting too much. But wanting your husband to speak to you respectfully, listen when you're hurting, or show you the same kindness he shows everyone else isn't asking for perfection. It's asking for the basics. --- 4️⃣ THE PROBLEM ISN'T THAT HE CAN'T BE KIND. IT'S THAT HE ISN'T CHOOSING TO BE KIND TO YOU. If he spends all day speaking politely to clients, colleagues, and strangers, then comes home and speaks harshly to his wife, the issue isn't that he lacks the ability to be kind.
