@ranchograndeojai: Every morning, Albert comes to the kitchen and I peel those stupid little stickers off his apples. Somewhere along the way, I became a camel’s personal produce inspector. He watches patiently, like a customer wondering why breakfast is taking so long. Then I went outside to give him his usual kiss on the nose and discovered he was soaking wet. That’s how I found out it was raining. Other people check the weather on their phones. I kiss a camel. It’s our first rain of the season, and we’re expecting about an inch in 24 hours. In California, this is a major event. Half an inch and we start wondering whether we should go to work. A full inch and we prepare for seven feet of snow. We’re excited. Albert seems less impressed with water falling on him for no apparent reason. He has plenty of places to shelter and can come inside if he wants. Apparently, my job now includes peeling apples, giving kisses, and explaining California weather to a wet camel. #ranchograndeojai #family #Love #rain
