@attyforfederalemployees: 10.21.26 A federal judge in Manhattan ruled on October 20 that OPM violated the Privacy Act when it gave DOGE agents broad access to systems holding the personal information of tens of millions of current, former, and prospective federal employees. The opinion found no credible need was ever shown for that access, that OPM bypassed its own cybersecurity practices, and that the problem was particular individuals failing to follow a law already on the books. The remedy, including whether OPM must account for every disclosure, will be decided by separate order, so this isn’t final. General information for the federal workforce, not legal advice. Should OPM have to tell you who touched your file? Tell me below. #HeyFeds #FederalEmployees #PrivacyAct #DOGE #OPM

Under the privacy act, there should be payment of no less than $1000 per event.

absolutely, we have a right to know why how they used our information and to whom it was shared.. disclosure of our records should also be documented in the records.

Sounds like a class action. Any other company that did this would have to compensate the victims.

And they’ve stored our data in private servers that can’t be traced. DOGE literally plugged external servers into US govt systems and siphoned our data. They need to be fully prosecuted!

Gave them access to the records with no vetting or security clearance, and we could be fired for letting someone work using our access cards.

Yall should vote AND file a class action. The class action won’t matter if you don’t vote. The people determining your compensation are currently corrupt.

And? How will OPM telling me if my privacy rights were violated remedy the damage? If violating our privacy results in nothing that will stop future bad actors, this is all meaningless. We are living through a time when no consequences = more of the same.
