Government officials work for us—not the other way around. The First Amendment protects our right to speak out, challenge authority, and demand accountability. The problem arises when police authority becomes effectively unchecked—when officers, supervisors, unions, prosecutors, or departments protect one another instead of objectively determining whether the Constitution was followed.
