ronova calls it a gift because she only knew her being alive was constant suffering, once she began to die and understood what it felt like (due to ronova being the shade of death, she wasnt allowed to know what death was truely like) she believed that all people in teyvat would think of it as mercy, however her gift is something that would (if not stopped) make teyvat uninhabitable for everything except dragons due to holy soil so everyone minus dragons and the sovereigns would die from either the holy soil or slow starvation (although the name is holy soil, it is awful for agriculture which supposedly was shown in an event during 2.X but I wasn't a player during that time). TL;DR ronova thinks allowing all life on teyvat to keep living is a punishment and believed that killing them all would give them mercy / true freedom

I mean to her, who was created to be a tool and only knew suffering for thousands of years, death really is a gift, she probably doesnt understand how humans live anyway so I think she really meant it😭

the reason she did this is for the people of teyvat to feel the same relief of being freed from their shackles she did when she died. her mind and opinions have been deluded and manipulated by phanes ever since she was created, which is the “Blessings given by deluded gods” the tsaritsa was talking about in the trailer. If she were in her right mind and actually had the opportunity to study humanity as she wanted, she would’ve known better- but from her view, this is genuinely the biggest gift she could’ve ever given the world with everything she was able to do
