@alex_thevet: Cats are weirdly good at finding the one dangerous thing in a room full of safe ones. Here are the five household items that catch them out most often. Lilies. All true lilies (Easter, tiger, day lily) are catastrophic for cats. The whole plant is toxic, including the pollen that lands on the fur and the water left in the vase. A cat licking pollen off their coat can be in acute kidney failure within 72 hours. If you own a cat, don't have them in the house. Essential oils and plug-in diffusers. Cats lack the liver enzyme to break most of them down. Even passive inhalation from a diffuser can cause drooling, breathing issues, and liver damage. Paracetamol. A single standard tablet is potentially fatal to a cat. Never give it, never leave boxes within reach. String, tinsel, hair ties, dental floss, ribbon. These are linear foreign bodies. If one end anchors, the gut bunches the intestines up and cuts through the wall. Emergency surgery. Antifreeze. Sweet-tasting and causes fatal kidney failure at tiny doses, a teaspoon is enough. Mop garage spills immediately. If you suspect exposure, call your vet or a pet poison line straight away. Time matters most.
