If a conference at large Bid gets 11 and then Notre Dame is ranked 12, Notre Dame gets in while the 11th spot for the at large bid gets dropped for the best G-5 Team and with Notre Dame expecting to go 10-2, as will many SEC and B1G teams, Notre Dame does not deserve to have this advantage who are they

no, the rules for them specifically CHANGED. now if there ranked in the top 12 than their automatically in the playoffs. So in reality a loss to Miami will move them down to #9-12 & they will still make the playoffs (taking the number 7th teams spot.

Well put. If ND joined the ACC they’d be in the playoff every single year. We put far too much weight on being in a conference and any argument towards it never really makes any sense. They still play 10 P4 conference teams, their schedule is never as bad as it’s made out to be. You can always find upwards to 20 P4 teams with easier schedules.

The only reason why BYU went independent was because they felt disrespected, not being invited into the Pac 12 and had nothing to gain staying in the mountain west. The best thing that ever happened to BYU was getting the invite to the big12. Not just for football. But their basketball program has completely turned around and other sports are really coming around because of this conference. Conference play is so much funner to watch than independent mediocre football schedule Notre Dame.

Yeah you would think it kills their chances except they only dropped to 4th, if Miami beats them they’ll drop to 10, win out, and still make the playoff. It’s crazy

I just want them in a tough conference to shut them up. Because their fans are on such a high horse and it’s obnoxious. But with this 24 dog shit playoff next year, conferences won’t matter. So at this point it doesn’t matter. I just want them to play a tough schedule JUST ONCE and see how they do. Not just waltzing into the playoffs with their whole team healthy.
