Beautiful analysis! I’ve seen people say this season was just about “D and his AI girlfriend” but I think it actually misses the point between him and Capri. Also noting we do know she isn’t an ai but a soul of sorts. What Capri and D have is quite deep. Capri gave back D is identity and sense of self and if not made him more than he ever was that he had he had lost to revenge. With her he could felt childlike again, free to experience the joy, fun, and relief he had forgotten. What he felt toward Capri wasn't just as simple as romantic or platonic. It was a connection rooted in the ability to feel like himself in a sense or to be something more and to be that way with someone else. When she was gone he spiraled because he lost more than a person he lost the version of himself he could only find with her. I think they're deeply compatible because neither simply takes over the other. They balance each other. When Capri was Talia she was emotionally wound up and bored without the experiences of fun she had. With D they brought out the parts of each other they could only really find with each other. Their connection wasn’t about completing one another but D being able to rediscover himself through Capri. I didn’t personally interpret it as just “love” but something far deeper. Capri and Ds story to me is about a unfathomable connection found between two very different souls.

I think something people overlook is that an impactful or tragic story doesn’t need everyone dying at the end, it needs connections you can feel and be attached to, even if the story doesn’t show you the physical tragedy, it can be an underlying message, leaving you to think afterwards, and sometimes understand the tragedy even more, took me at least a couple of hours to properly process the season
