I have so much love for Tbilisi. Have done two solo trips there, Dec 2024 and Aug 2025. Amazing in both seasons. Hoping to go back this winter when I go to Baku and maybe try the new train route😍

“Everyone is so kind and trustworthy”… What a big lie. We went to Georgia last month, and people kept assuming we were Russian because of our Slavic accents (we’re Macedonians, btw). They looked at us with hostility, were unhelpful, and didn’t want to host us or speak to us in English until we told them we weren’t Russian. I had a similar experience in a small shop where I went to buy something. The shop assistant (a young woman, btw) wasn’t willing to help me and asked where I was from. After I told her I was Macedonian, her attitude suddenly changed, and she became much friendlier.

My heart warms up seeing this many foreigners from all over the world love our special little city 🥹 We’re so used to it ourselves and it’s always like that for locals everywhere, they tend to dislike their own cities more bc of knowing some stuff too well, but every time I come across a post like this I remember what a uniquely beautiful, soulful city Tbilisi is, despite all of the issues we might have. I’m happy you enjoyed it here. It definitely takes a perspective to see it for what beauty it brings. ✨

Very chill city indeed until you have to take a marshrutka at Didube station. I still have nightmares where i go in circle in that godless parking lot asking « Gori? Gori? » with tears in my eyes (from both fumes and frustration) to indifferent drivers in identical-looking minivans.
