@new_england_unfiltered: Apparently, we’ve reached the portion of campaign season where enormous numbers and flattering photographs substitute for explanations. Tong’s ad announces he’s taking on powerful forces and WINNING. Wonderful. Let’s examine the accounting. His campaign website claims his office “generated and protected” $5.2 BILLION FOR THE STATE over two terms. But the advertisement says he SAVED CONNECTICUT RESIDENTS $5.2 billion. THOSE ARE NOT THE SAME CLAIM. His office’s FY2024–25 annual report lists $445.7 million in revenue generated or protected. Including $174 million deposited into the General Fund, $192.5 million in child support collected for families, and $1.95 million recovered through consumer assistance. Legitimate work. Different beneficiaries. Different financial outcomes. NOW LET’S DISCUSS HIS RECORD ON TRANSPARENCY. In January 2026, Connecticut’s Freedom of Information Commission found that Tong’s office violated public-records fee requirements after demanding a $650 prepayment from a records requester. The commission criticized the office’s approach to its disclosure obligations. Meanwhile, Connecticut’s correction ombudsman accused the office of failing to fully disclose prison-litigation costs. That allegation was disputed and pending review when reported. INTERESTING. AN OFFICE CELEBRATING BILLIONS IN SAVINGS WHILE FACING QUESTIONS ABOUT DISCLOSING GOVERNMENT EXPENSES. Tong has secured meaningful consumer settlements. Those deserve recognition. But a campaign commercial is not an audited financial statement. So, Attorney General, let’s see the breakdown. How much went directly to residents? How much entered government accounts? How much represents protected assets rather than money recovered? How much was actually collected? And what did the litigation cost taxpayers? YOU PAID TO TELL US YOU’RE WINNING. NOW GIVE CONNECTICUT SOMETHING MORE USEFUL THAN AN AD: AN ACCOUNTING WE CAN ACTUALLY VERIFY. He stood a lot of companies and he won a lot of cases, but no one got any money, but where did it go? That’s the big question with Attorney General William Tom where is the money as they always say in politics follow the money where did it go? Who received it not the people who were part of the class action lawsuit
