She’s not wrong, technically. Vanilla extract is 30% or higher alcohol by law, and cupcakes retain about 40% of that after cooking for like 15-20min. However, it would take about 200 cupcakes to equal a single can of bud light. There is more natural alcohol in orange juice or a ripe banana than in a cupcake.

I am a baker. most baked goods will contain vanilla extract. the amount of alcohol in it is not concerning for a child or a sober person. same thing for most goods that have alcohol baked/cooked into them bc the alcohol cooks out.
