McDaniels system and throwing with anticipation in general only works if you have receivers that you can trust to create separation quickly. There are ZERO pass catchers on this team that do that consistently. This is also why Tua looked so great with Tyreek and Waddle but looked terrible the second he didn’t have them both and a great o line

Herbert is a toolsy QB but not being able to process and throw with anticipation is a lack of skill. It’s odd to me how discourse often thinks passing is more about having a big arm. There’s a reason Herbert has constantly been overrated throughout his career.

Possible video idea: I would love to see you cover defensive holding/illegal contact penalties this year, as I feel it’s being called at a lot higher rate this year specifically on third downs. I would love to see it compared to other years because I could be completely wrong.

ive been saying this. havent seen that chart before though. McDaniels offense is great at making a limited qb great as lojg as they trust his system. I will blame herbert for not trusting it cuz you have to trust your OC and see what happens but damn i think they were just a bad match. I think McDaniels offense would be great for the browns if the their qbs could trust it

McDaniels offense requires anticipation and elite YAC guys. Herbert isn’t playing with anticipation and his guys aren’t good at YAC. It’s pretty simple

Even with how bad the chargers idk why people expected such a leap in quality after this off-season. If I had to pick Mike McDaniel as my OC or Jesse Minter as my DC, I think that would've been an easy choice to make even in the summer, and I get the chargers didn't have a choice but the outcome definitely was gonna be a lesser team from how I see it

I don't know I'm starting to think Mike McDaniel's offense designs are like if I brought you my plans to design a really cool flying car. It would just be a drawing because I couldn't actually execute it and wouldn't know if the technology existed to do so even if I could engineer it in part.
