I wrote a paper about this in college! The media firestorm against Stella Liebeck and the lawsuit was an incredibly calculated attack to discredit her and the SIX HUNDRED other people who had filed similar complaints to McDonald’s before Stella. McDonald’s was intentionally brewing their coffee at over 200 degrees, they claimed it was because they were going through sooo much coffee and had to keep up with customer demand. The worst part is that she only wanted $20k to cover her medical bills. She was a modest woman who did not want or mean to cause the legal and media frenzy it did.

I think this whole case people should know about in totality. It’s caused burns down to the fatty tissue and muscle. People let a billion dollar company try to make the public feel like it was frivolous lawsuit but she honestly deserved more money.
