@georgechristiejnr: OPERATION ROUGH RIDER - WHEN THE FBI CAME CALLING Operation Rough Rider was a three-year FBI investigation that cost the government a fortune. But the financial burden wasn't just on the government. We were hit with staggering legal bills defending ourselves. That's where the defense fund events came in. Pictured is Eddie from the New York City Third Street Crew at one of the many outstanding events organized to raise money for our defense. These weren't just club gatherings. They were open to the public, and some attracted big-name entertainers. Joan Jett was one of the surprise guests. I ran into Joan that night at The Limelight in New York City. She's a real class act. Joan, several club members, and I were hanging out in her dressing room when Hells Angel and federal informant Tony Tait showed up. Within minutes, Tony and I were on the verge of a physical confrontation. Joan had no idea what was about to unfold in her dressing room. But without even realizing it, she managed to bring the standoff to an end. Sometimes the most unlikely person can defuse a situation without ever knowing how close things came to exploding. That's just one of the many stories from my years inside the Hells Angels. Stories about loyalty, betrayal, federal investigations, and the people I crossed paths with along the way. Read the stories from someone who lived them. My books, including my latest, Crossing The Rubicon, take you behind the scenes of six decades of outlaw motorcycle history.
