@healthfulpodcast: Growing up in Texas, Norah loved spending time in the sun and visiting tanning salons with her friends… something she now regrets. Now, after having a melanoma removed from her skin 10 years ago, she is determined to take care of her skin to prevent future cancers with the help of her dermatologist Dr. Elizabeth Hale. Exposure to tanning beds before the age of 35 increases your chance of getting melanoma (the deadliest form of skin cancer) by 75% according to the Skin Cancer Foundation. Dr. Hale joins Norah to share why it is so important to protect your skin from UV rays. New episodes of Healthful drop every Wednesday. Native Floridian grew up in 70/80s. We used baby oil to tan. I’ve have multiple basal cell cancers removed from shoulders, chest and face. I used tanning beds too. Don’t do it! It will come around and haunt you.
