a few years ago, my mom bought me a pop-up nightmare before Christmas advent calendar. it's a book that unfolds into a little paper tree. we've used it every year since. one of us will randomly put the little charms back every year so we can open it again ❤️. my sister and I also used to make "wreck this advent calendars" based on "wreck this journal". advent calendars don't have to be expensive

Nah, everyone in my family gets their own special advent calendar. Christmas comes but once a year ,and its fun and we enjoy it and im okay with spending the money.

so far I'm on rule 1 and I disagree! my advent calendars are part of my Christmas decor and also my Christmas experience for 24-25 days, so pretty packaging is valuable to me!

I have reusable advent calendars that I fill with small treats/candy. My dog has one, and my cats share one as well, but they are all reusable and just filled with their normal treats. It's just a fun little daily activity.

My family’s had the same fabric advent calendar that my mom bought over 25 years ago at dollar tree, we refill with candy, or coins. I think the reusable ones are always the way to go

Make your own!!!!! I have a beautiful wooden advent with little drawers. My wife knows I LOVE Christmas earrings. I have about 40 pairs. So every year at the beginning of November, she puts a different pair in each drawer. I start wearing all the earrings she didnt choose randomly thru November. But starting December 1st I have surprise earrings every day!!! I LOVE IT!!!

As a kid, we had a felt ribbon with yarn ties, and my mom put a small piece of candy on each day, with a bigger thing one Christmas Eve. I don't understand people paying hundreds for these advent calanders. And so many are so disappointed by contents because they were spending hundreds on complete mystery items.
