so I paid taxes to buy the cards in the first place, and now I need to pay taxes again on that same card? Double taxation, without representation. man o man, we will NEVER get out of this constant "Everyone in my pockets taking my money" world!!!

Literally no regular collector is trading cards and filing it on their taxes.. so if you arent a vendor/business then this is just noise

so I sold $3k on eBay this year in Pokemon cards. I have no idea what I paid for them years ago to know if I made a profit on each one. What would be my best approach to ensure I’m square with the IRS?

I’ve taken so many losses by buying cards for years lol…let’s say I’ve spent $5K last year and then I sold one card for $500, net -$450….no gains, no taxes…Correct?

You have to pay on gains. And it was changed so that you have to make over 20k in profit before you have to start paying taxes on that.
