A Mexican father of three who lived in Dallas for years has lost his life while being held at an immigration detention facility in Laredo, Texas. Emiliano Andrade-Covarrubias, 56, was found unresponsive on October 17 after approximately four months in ICE custody. A painting contractor and father of three U.S.-born adult children, he reportedly had several existing health conditions. His 29-year-old daughter, Estefani Andrade, says the family was notified of his passing by the Webb County Medical Examiner’s Office, not by ICE officials. Estefani claims her father was not receiving the medication he needed for diabetes, high blood pressure and a heart condition. She also says he had lost a significant amount of weight during his detention. Her allegations have not been independently confirmed. According to documented reports, more than 50 immigrants have lost their lives while in ICE custody since President Donald Trump began his second term in January 2025. Mexican officials are now seeking a full investigation into the circumstances surrounding Emiliano’s passing. His family continues to wait for answers, and an official cause has not yet been released.
