PTO is never a "request" for me. It's a statement. It's a "Hey, I am unavailable during these days." Obviosuly within reasonable notice.

Going forward, send an email the minute you submit the request in the system. And then addition email follow ups EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. after until it is approved. Give them exactly what they ask for.

things like this makes me love my company. they need 3 days minimum...less than that is whats called unscheduled pto...too many of those you can get in trouble but not until 4 if them. I have never been denied pto or heard of anyone being denied their time

I’m so glad my supervisor just says “put it on the group calendar and tell me so I don’t text you on your day/s off”. Granted, I’m not in a job that needs full coverage if I’m out, and our auto emails tell the person who to call if they need an immediate answer.

I do not deny PTO requests period. Even if last minute, then I just think of it like someone is sick. It is my job as a leader to make sure my team is NOT short staffed! If I ever have a concern I will call and talk with them, explain the concern, and then it is still there call if they work or not. They get the PTO when they want it. Adults adulting!

Same boss when the employee checks on for the second time in one week, "Geeze, stop trying to micromanage me. I'm YOUR manager, and I'll get to it when I can. I'm very busy, but if you don't get off my back I'll fire you ..." or something like that.
