Maynard Family Homestead :
We have grown the traditional golden pineapples on our Homestead for several years now with good success. We’re in the northern part of Florida so we do have to protect them in the winter time like y’all do. That being said I bought a sugarloaf plant to try this year and it hasn’t grown at all. It looks pitiful! I have it in the same bed with the rest of the pineapples which is in a mostly sunny area. Do they need to be shaded more?

Fun Fact. The #TreasureCoast of Florida in Jensen Beach was a huge pineapple producer in the late 1800's. A freeze ended it.
