I'm suspecting that Goetic princesses don't have many rights or freedoms unless they're married. I noticed only the estate go to Octavia when she turns 18, Stolas going on probation should have meant that Andrealphus was only be regent until then. Instead he holds that power for 100 years and Octavia is going to get married off to a stranger. I also think the real reason Stella kept coming back was that WAS her home. "Tormenting" Stolas might have been a bonus but that was still her home, until it wasn't then she's left with nothing. Stolas being gay meant that Stella was dealt a completely incompatible hand from day one, but that seems to be the only hand goetic women have. They get married, they have babies, they have no power an exist as bargaining chips. When she's around her brother all he does is abuse and insult her - like she does to Stolas, sadly - but it's very clear she has no power in this dynamic. Stella had to run to get Stolas to get her own staff to listen to her about HER wedding so she wasn't out in HIS colors. And even if people don't have sympathy for Stella because she let her circumstances make her cruel, consider this is going to be Octavia's reality.
