One time someone told me “you should feel lucky to have this job and be away from your family you knew what to expect” like what 😭 I do feel privileged to have this job but that doesn’t mean I don’t get to be sad to be alone on a holiday??? I’m not allowed to be sad because I knew what I was signing up for I guess lmao

Also I start training in one week and this will be my first holidays away from home 🥺. Looking forward to this new journey but not looking forward to spending my first Christmas alone

I’ve always hated holidays anyway because we’re all over the country & never spend it together. Working is the best & biggest distraction 😭

So true, my first couple years during the holidays were rough. Now I can hold those days off if I want to but often choose to work for the holiday incentive pay and to allow someone else to have those holidays off. I got Thanksgiving and the days around it off but picked up someone’s trips just because I really don’t mind and it makes me happy to allow a junior crew member to enjoy their family time!
