@attorneysekou: Filed with immigration before? Before your next application, you may need to see what’s already in your file. 📂 That’s what a FOIA (Freedom of Information Act) request is for. 🔹 What it does: it gets you a copy of your immigration file 🔹 Why it matters: your new application can’t contradict, conflict with, or differ from what you filed before. Inconsistencies can raise red flags and put your case at risk. ⚠️ It’s more technical than it sounds. Each agency keeps its own records, so you have to request from the right one: 📌 USCIS 📌 Immigration court (EOIR) 📌 Department of State 🔒 In general, only the person whose record it is can request it. Someone else needs that person’s consent. That’s why we’re requesting more FOIAs than ever before filing new cases. PSA: This is general information, not legal advice.🚨
