@everything.geopol: Cities across China are swapping out billboard ads for portraits of the country's greatest scientists. X At a metro station in Zhengzhou, screens that once showed phone deals and fashion ads now feature figures like Yuan Longping, the "father of hybrid rice" credited with helping feed millions, and Tu Youyou, who won the 2015 Nobel Prize for her antimalarial research. The trend reportedly began in Shandong province and has since spread to Anhui, Inner Mongolia, Jiangxi, Henan and Hangzhou. Other faces include rocket scientist Qian Xuesen and nuclear physicist Deng Jiaxian. The idea has sparked conversation worldwide about who we put on display. As businessman Harsh Goenka put it: "What we celebrate shapes what our children aspire to become." Should more cities do this?#china #billboards
