I loved this story, so I made an interactive version on Cycle AI where you can step into any character and live it yourself! “It's small,” I said quickly. “Nothing you'd be interested in.” Luke looked at the open sketchbook instead of me. That made my stomach tighten. I could survive him disliking my clothes. I wasn't prepared for him to dislike something I'd made. “You drew these?” “No. The pencil got bored and did it itself.” He almost smiled. I wished he wouldn't. It was easier to stay angry when he behaved like the arrogant stranger I'd married. His friend asked about the dress on the left. I explained how the fabric needed to fall, then stopped halfway through demonstrating with my hands. Too late. I was already leaning forward, talking too fast. For a few seconds, I wasn't somebody's expensive bride. I was a designer with an idea. “We sell online,” I said. “My friend and I. But more orders mean equipment. People. Money we don't have.” Then came that awful question again. How could a billionaire's granddaughter need money? Because he hadn't wanted us until he wanted this wedding. Because the money he finally offered came with a husband attached. Because my mother's treatment mattered more than my pride. I didn't say any of that. “I'd like to do something for myself,” I managed. Luke set a glass of lemonade beside my hand. “Then tell me what you need.” I stared at him. There was no joke coming. No little speech about finding a less demanding hobby. “You haven't even looked properly.” “I'm looking now.” He turned a page carefully. Carefully. As if the bent corners and pencil marks deserved the same attention he'd given the diamond I'd refused earlier. I wanted to snatch the book away. I wanted him to turn another page. “That one isn't finished,” I said as he reached the next page. “I can see what you're trying to do.” I wanted to ask what he saw. A dress? A hobby? A wife who might be useful for something other than family photographs? Instead, I explained the neckline. He asked a question about the fabric, and I forgot to keep my answer short. The lemonade sat untouched while I talked. When our friends left us alone, he asked how long I'd been designing. I answered. He asked whether we'd sold anything. I answered that, too. It was the longest conversation we'd had that didn't feel like a fight. Then I remembered how help worked in my family. First came the offer. Then came the thing you could no longer refuse. “I don't want to owe you.” His hand went still on the page. “Is that what you think this is?” I looked down at the ring I was still getting used to wearing. The last man who offered to help me had chosen my husband. What would happen if I trusted the husband, too? https://cycleai-link.pages.dev/J9XF1R #cycleai #BookTok #ArrangedMarriage #EnemiesToLovers #BillionaireRomance RomanceBooks BookRecommendations
