Welcome to the conversation!!! Thank you for interacting with the text! ESV translation I think. My only contention when I posted this was that the American slavery that we are familiar with is not the same as the slavery in the Bible. The Bible regulates the slavery and then in the New Testament in Philemon 1:16 as well as some other passages we learned the New Testament ethic. There are some assumptions I would disagree with you with, but I’m not gonna get into that..

Many scholars and commentators note that ancient Near Eastern laws were not modern moral blueprints, and Mosaic legislation restricted or curbed existing cultural practices. people were being people awful to each other so God was trting to change that and you have a problem with this?
