@recall.peggy.price: PUBLIC DISSENT IS NOT AN INVITATION FOR INTIMIDATION. During Imperial Market Days on October 17, two members of the Committee to Recall Supervisor Margarita “Peggy” Price reported separate encounters in which Ms. Price’s husband, a former law enforcement official, approached the recall booth and engaged in conduct they described as condescending and intimidating. These encounters, including one involving Committee President Gina Snow while alone at the booth, were addressed at the October 20 Board of Supervisors meeting, along with concerns about Ms. Price’s lack of intervention. Disagree with us. Challenge our arguments. Vote differently. That is democracy. Intimidation is not. Ms. Price has publicly expressed concerns for her own safety. Yet when constituents raised concerns about theirs, she walked around the room during public comment rather than remaining attentive. The expectation of respect and personal safety cannot be a one-way street. Political connections do not confer authority, nor does a former career in law enforcement grant a lifetime entitlement to it. A badge once held is not authority indefinitely possessed. These encounters raise the same concerns about respect for public dissent and community voices that our committee has repeatedly brought forward. Public office is a responsibility to the people, not a privilege extended to an inner circle.
