@soocanadian: Prime Minister Mark Carney says he spoke with U.S. President Donald Trump for quite some time Wednesday morning, discussing a range of issues, including Iran, Ukraine, the Middle East and trade. “We discussed a wide range of things, wide range of issues, the situation in Iran,” Carney told reporters on Parliament Hill when asked about the conversation. “We talked a few days ago about Ukraine and those aspects there,” he added. “We talked about other aspects in the Middle East, and we did address some of the issues around trade.” Carney also said Canada is prepared to resume trade negotiations when Washington is ready, stressing that any agreement must serve Canadian interests. “We're ready to sit down and negotiate when the U.S. is, but a deal that's in the interests of Canadians,” he said. Carney made the remarks while answering questions alongside Ontario Premier Doug Ford.
