@brunettewhispers: Teachers please give input too. #advice #adviceforgirls #help #school #teachers . . . . . . My male teacher has told me repeatedly for the last few weeks "you look pretty today" (etc) Am I being overly dramatic or is it weird?
Hopefully he is complimenting every single student as part of confidence building/affirmation but its giving sus

It is weird. I’m a teacher (female though) but even I never tell a student they are pretty. I might say your hair is cute, your makeup is good, I like your outfit, etc. but never “you’re pretty.” Actually even in our teacher training videos we are told to not give generalized compliments like calling a student attractive. We are told to pick something they can change or make an effort in instead. It’s possible he means the outfit/hair or whatever you did differently, but he should still know as an adult to word it differently. Definitely weird and I would keep all convos short and report it if it continues or you notice other things that are weird.

I’m a middle school teacher. If you feel weird about it, it’s weird. The objectivity of his actions doesn’t matter as much as how it is making you, the student and child, feel. THAT is what matters.

Um my drivers ed teacher was like that and it was discovered later on that he was texting a bunch of underaged girls from my grade attempting to make plans to have ____ in the gym class locker rooms. Take preventive measures and report. Men like that will always push the boundaries and see how much they can get away with and it’s a compulsive behavior. You not telling a trusted adult is enabling said behavior. This was something I had to unknowingly learn the hard and more traumatizing way. I do not want that for you. Please say something.

that is weird! bring a friend after class and call this teacher out! do not do that alone. have a witness. tell the teacher that it's making you uncomfortable. then go tell a counselor. even if you aren't making a report, you're making sure your bases are covered. maybe even bring it up with a parent if you're comfortable

Does he compliment others often? If it’s making you uncomfortable still talk to another adult at the school. Let them know.

Please talk to a trust adult as soon as you can. This is not appropriate behavior. He's resting his boundaries and the behavior WILL escalate if you don't say anything!
Best of luck and I'm so sorry you have a predator for a teacher.

As a teacher, I’ve never told a student they look good in 15 years. That is weird

That’s inappropriate, definitely report. If phones are allowed in class, try to secretly record him telling you that for evidence. If you can’t, I hope the staff would believe you and your friend either way

No if your gut is telling you somethings off listen to that. It is inappropriate for a teacher to be saying that excessively and id argue that a teacher shouldn’t be saying that at all. Youre not being paranoid i would bring this up to a trusted adult if i were you

hi! please tell another teacher, your counselor, or even your principal. an appropriate compliment from a teacher would be something like "wow cool outfit today!" said in an appropriate tone, or something like "cool hairstyle". just know this is not something that should have happened to you, that is down right creepy and gross. please take action because you could save other students from the same situation who may not feel comfortable speaking up on this topic! i hope you get your justice!:(

Teacher here- weird and inappropriate! Tell admin and counseling immediately and document. Listen to your gut! Involve your parents. 100% not ok.

complimenting clothes is much different that complimenting appearances. If it's YOU look good or YOU look good in... that's entirely inappropriate for even a female teacher to say. Make a report and tell him to stop. If nothing changes, tell an adult outside of the system you know will fight for you!

TALK ABOUT IT DO NOT STAY SILENT!!! He will continue to escalate into physical behavior if his communication with students isn’t corrected. Don’t be the person that stays silent and lets it continue.

Even if he is doing that to others, an adult teacher has no business saying anything like that to a student. Definitely talk to a counselor, at minimum someone needs to speak to him to get him to stop the behavior. No matter his intent it's inappropriate.

As a teacher it’s wrong. I would say something to your parent so they can let the school know. Or go to a trusted adult on campus.
