@cbsla: Long Beach has launched an $11.4 million project to protect the Long Beach Peninsula from coastal erosion after recent storms damaged the shoreline, boardwalk, seawall and nearby homes. The Alamitos Bay dredging project will remove about 415,000 cubic yards of sediment and reuse the material to widen Peninsula Beach by about 200 feet, creating a larger buffer between the ocean and homes. The project, which stretches from 61st Street to 72nd Place, is expected to be completed by February 2027.
