@shoptansy: Okay, let’s keep your little Christmas tree alive past New Year’s this time! 👏 Yes, it’s only October… but these lil guys are about to be everywhere, so I figured I should do some prepping for the influx of messages I will inevitably get about them 🤣 First off, rip that foil wrapper off. That decorative foil blocks airflow, collects water and it overall just root rot waiting to happen. Then, it’s time to repot. Here’s a soil mix that works for all of them : 2 parts potting soil, 1 part perlite, 1 part peat moss or coco coir and a handful of orchid bark. Only go up an inch or two in pot size at a time & make sure it has a drainage hole. 🌴NORFOLK ISLAND PINE This plant is actually tropical, so it’s the easiest one to keep inside. Put it in a west, south or east window where it gets some direct sun. Keep temps 60 to 75°F & away from Any drafty areas. Let dry in between waterings but DO NOT LET SIT DRY FOR MORE THAN 1 DAY. Turn the tree every week so it doesn’t become lopsided. If you’re in SoCal like me, it can live outside all year in bright shade But bring it in if temps drop below 40°F. feed with a 20-20-20 fertilizer at 1/2 strength monthly spring-summer. 🍋LEMON CYPRESS This guy is a sun LOVER and wants at least 6 hours of direct light. Inside, it’ll hang on for a few weeks in your sunniest window if the room stays around 50 to 65°F. Don’t ever let it dry out completely... keep lightly damp but fully wet. Once the holidays are done, get it outside in full sun. For feed, Osmocote in early spring is all it needs. 🎄DWARF ALBERTA SPRUCE This one needs a cold, so only keep inside for 10 days max! While it’s indoors, keep by a west or south window. Keep the temps between 60 and 68°F & away from vents. The soil should stay lightly damp but never fully wet. Outdoors, this tree wants morning direct sun and afternoon shade. One feeding of Holly-tone in early spring and you’re good to go! #christmastree #learnbiologyontiktok #christmas #plants #biologytiktokcontest

So, would the spruce be more likely to live if I just put it straight in the ground outside?

I got a big leaves’d pothos vine. How would you suggest dealing with it? It already had decently long aerial roots. Soil immediately or in water first?

I have had a poinsettia for 3 years, can't get her to turn red, but she is still alive! I don't think I give her enough dark time, I need to fix that.
