The Yankees have developed 5 major league catchers over the last 6 years or so and traded them all to keep the one who hits .160. Just one small example of how badly they judge talent here.

The teams of what seem so ling ago were able to play small ball and manufacture runs. Bunt, move runners along and then get a hit with runners in scoring position. None of that is happening. They all want to hit homeruns. Multiple players batting in the low .200s isn’t going to cut it. We need good hitters.

The full responsibility is on the gm who can't put a roster together and has been getting bailed out by Judge every year. Otherwise he has no more than 3-4 guys in the lineup to start the year who got can reasonably expect to be at least average MLB hitters.

Yankees ignore BA in players. BA matters in the post season. The ability to fouls off or hit tough pitches is what scores runs. They can’t wait for good pitchers to make mistakes in the post season. The HR isn’t enough
