I had a student pick up a desk and throw it, and called me and his classmates “mother effers” (5th grade). The principal took the student and they returned 15 minutes later with a snack. The principal emailed me the next day and said the student felt targeted and that she thought it would be “best for everyone involved” for me to apologize to the student for targeting him and take away his write up……🫠

One thing I absolutely love about my son’s teacher is that when a student misbehaves, she has them call their parent and explain their behavior themselves! 😂 But first, they have to read a script explaining why they’re making the call. I love this approach because it teaches accountability and responsibility! 👏👏

I was a better teacher when admin supported me and followed through with addressing behavior. When admin didn’t give a shit, I was drowning.
