@nymag: There’s a lot of exposure for Elizabeth Holmes’s partner in ‘You Can See Everything.’ Over nearly three hours, you see Billy Evans as a domineering partner and stealth social-media surrogate — and get a glimpse of him fully naked brushing his teeth in the shower. But what the audience doesn’t get, beyond a few glimpses of Holmes and Evans pitching investors on a post-Theranos prototype, is a look at what Evans is working on while Holmes is in prison for running Silicon Valley’s most infamous fraud. In 2022, five years after he first met Holmes, Evans founded a company called Haemanthus, which is named after a genus of blood lily. Like Theranos, it is a blood-testing start-up with a prototype machine that looks a whole lot like the Edison — the box that falsely promised to run more than 1,000 instant tests with just a pinprick of blood. Little is known about the private company. But Evans’s decision to launch a blood-testing company after meeting Holmes is raising a lot of questions about whether this is a Theranos reboot — and whether his partner is onboard.
