@kylie__gc2: On June 3, 2023, 18-year-old Spencer Ross Pearson followed his 17-year-old ex-girlfriend, Madison Schemitz, to a restaurant in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. Since their breakup in April, Pearson had reportedly been st*lking her and harassing her on social media. Madison was having dinner with her mother, Jaclyn Rogé, and a friend when she noticed Pearson sitting at a nearby table. Worried by his presence, the group decided to leave. But as they headed outside, Pearson followed them, turning what should have been an ordinary evening into a terrifying att*ck. Pearson att*cked Madison and st*bbed her 17 times, leaving her temporarily paralyzed from the chest down. Her mother rushed to protect her daughter but was also injured while trying to stop him. Then Kennedy Armstrong, a bystander who heard screams coming from the parking lot, ran toward the scene to help the women. He was injured while trying to stop Pearson. After the att*ck, Pearson injured his own throat in an apparent su*cide attempt. Madison survived, but the physical and emotional consequences of that night changed her life forever. The fact that her mother and a stranger risked their own lives trying to protect her became a powerful part of her survival story. In July 2024, Pearson pleaded guilty to two counts of attempted first-degree m*rder and aggravated b*ttery causing serious bodily injury with a weapon. On November 22, 2024, he was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. One of the most heartbreaking details is that Madison was only 17 when the att*ck happened, and she faced the challenge of rebuilding her life after being left temporarily paralyzed. Her mother and Kennedy also had to recover from their injuries. Their courage helped Madison survive a moment that could have ended in tragedy, while the life sentence brought a measure of justice after more than a year of waiting for the case to conclude.

All of us in PVB have been rooting for Madison since this happened to her. Her mother used her own body to try and shield her and The young man who helped Madison Schemitz was Kennedy Armstrong, a 22-year-old restaurant manager who sprinted 160 feet to tackle and pin the attacker, Spencer Pearson, during the June 3, 2023, attack. He was stabbed also.

As a man, this makes me understand why women choose the bear. It really is all of us. We need to do better.

It’s crazy how casually a man will enter a state of psychosis because he cannot regulate his emotions.

She’s the same age as my son. I’ve always told him when the relationship ends, move on. Don’t call, stalk, or harass. They don’t want to be with you, walk away with your dignity.

As a man, I struggle everyday to understand why there are men who choose violence in any forms. Why is "if I can't have her, nobody can" an actual option. Everyone has relationships that end but to choose stalking and violence is something I can not accept as an option. DV perpetrators need to be locked up immediately. Not bond, no bail. So many of the cases end in violence while the person is on bond/bail. Their rights to due process should be not be at expense of the victims right to be safe

Moms, let’s raise our sons better than this. When they say it’s over, it’s over. Respect is hot. Not harassment and stalking. She says no. It doesn’t mean maybe or not right now.

When we say no, when we create boundaries, when we successfully leave your ass. This is how they react. This is the problem. Teach your sons how to handle rejection and how to handle it without explaining why. Leave me alone means leave me alone.

My best friend was stabbed to death by her ex. She was 20. He showed up where she was at and asked to talk to her. They went outside and he stabbed her 9 times. A friend went out to check on her and he also got stabbed but he made it. The ex only got 20 some years. He gets out soon.

I worked at this restaurant, I was on my way into work when the situation happened and was told not to come in due to all the blood one of our favorite regulars is the guy that was the bystander that helped. It was very strange coming back to work but Chubbys wings where this happened at wound up having a Madison Strong event and we raised over $10,000 for the family.
