@j1_uy2: Empathy is the highest stage of human consciousness, because the act of empathizing requires the complete stripping away of the individualistic mind and its barriers. It transcends the boundaries of the self, reaching into the different manifestations of humanity and attempting to inhabit them. Through this, the empathetic person comes to understand how others think, how they behave, and how they feel. An empathetic person embodies the literal meaning of the phrase, “If I were in their place”. They possess an insight that penetrates the barriers of logic, rationalizations and every conceivable limitation. They don’t merely observe another person's suffering, they live that person's life, experiencing their pain so deeply that it can bring them to tears. Some individuals who consider themselves “extraordinary” who believe their intelligence transcends the societies they belong to, are nothing more than deluded failures, i am speaking of those who believe that their lives and their expressions of existence are inherently superior to those of others. Those selfish individuals who believe that social, racial, or beliefs hierarchies are things that should be established or restored, or who simply disregard such divisions and remain indifferent when they reemerge in supposedly civilized societies, those who see social injustice or the suffering of an entire nation and either feel no concern or believe that those who suffer somehow deserve their suffering. The racists, the egoists, and the indifferent are among the worst kinds of people, concealing themselves beneath the illusion of a consciousness they don’t truly possess. Only those who are capable of genuine empathy are truly conscious, they have no interest in proving themselves. They simply extend a helping hand whenever they encounter someone in need, regardless of time, place or circumstance, they don’t calculate whether someone deserves their compassion or allow differences to determine the limits of their humanity. Try to put yourself in the place of the person or society you are indifferent to, or whose suffering you believe is deserved. Try to understand others. (The concept of humanity has reached the point where the word "empathy" has become a cynical mockery).

When I was a kid I hated how empathetic I was because it always hurt me deeply when I saw someone in distress. I still remember crying at the sight of this homeless man. But somewhere along my life, I lost that quality. I’m so desensitised and burnt out that I rarely feel anything, especially when it doesn’t affect me. I know my guilt doesn’t purify me but I need to get this off my chest, surely it’s not my fault? Right? I’ve lost my way, and nobody cares about me or understands me enough to save me.
