When backing up a trailer try steering from the bottom part of the steering wheel. That will keep everything aligned and therefore your left will be left and rights will be rights.

That reminded me of a time when I was driving my moms car, it was dark outside and I didn’t see a mailbox. The mirror hit the mailbox but luckily it didn’t take the whole mirror off, just the back plastic part and the inside mirror part. My mom got mad and made me pay for it, it costed me $300
