@azkc74: SEVERE STORMS ROCK THE PHOENIX-MESA VALLEY! ⛈️ Arizona is experiencing a powerful outbreak of severe thunderstorms, with the East Valley taking a particularly hard hit. On Tuesday night, October 20, and into Wednesday, October 21, a supercell thunderstorm tore through Chandler, Gilbert, and Mesa, producing damaging winds, torrential rainfall, and hailstones reportedly reaching 2 inches in diameter, roughly the size of a hen's egg! Other areas reported quarter-sized hail, while wind gusts exceeded 40 to 50 mph. Parts of Mesa received more than half an inch of rain as the storm system intensified. The National Weather Service is warning that additional severe thunderstorms, dangerous lightning, damaging winds, and even isolated tornadoes remain possible through Thursday. FLASH FLOODING THREATENS THE VALLEY AS EMERGENCY CREWS PREPARE FOR DANGEROUS CONDITIONS! With rainfall rates potentially reaching 1 to 2 inches per hour, authorities are warning residents throughout Phoenix, Mesa, and surrounding communities to avoid flooded roads, washes, and low-lying areas. Recent storms in Mesa have already demonstrated how quickly streets can become dangerous, requiring firefighters to rescue stranded motorists. However, specific water rescues connected to today's October 21 storms have not yet been confirmed in the reports reviewed. A flood watch remains in effect through Thursday afternoon, with the greatest flooding threat expected overnight and into Thursday morning. Could this become one of the Valley's most destructive storm outbreaks of the year? Residents should remain alert as this developing weather system continues moving across central Arizona. #PhoenixStorms #MesaArizona #ArizonaWeather #SevereThunderstorms #HailStorm
