When you’re talking about a career that will earn you $250,000 a year for the rest of your life vs a one time $ 400,000 investment it’s a very good return. Of course, many people who go into health services. Don’t think of it only as a financial issue they have a calling to help people.

Do not go into primary care. Let the midlevels salivate and fight for that. Do something that makes money. Or go dpc in an area with money. Anesthesiologist for 18 yrs now and that’s my advice

It's good debt because you're buying a 300k salary. Make good decisions and then yes it's a good decision. What else do you suggest? Making 300k+ in business will cost you just as much time, probably more.

Still worth it. The grass is not greener in other professions, it’s just different.

Graduated with $167k and paid it off by early 30s with commendable, but doable, austerity. Whole different situation now

Generalists has been shifting to NPs entirely. Med school should now lead to a specialty where depth of knowledge is necessary.

Young people. Please listen. The debt NOW is CRIPPLING. THE LOANS!! And NOW you are forced to take high interest in private loans. I'm in practice, working, Insurance is BAD BAD BAD. Every year reimbursement has decreased. Y'all, they want mid levels and AI to fill the primary role. They do. Please consider another path if you do not have parents that want to fund your education.

I wish needed careers such as being a doctor was had subsidized government loans capped at 3% to encourage those to take care of the people in our nation.

I am in the application process right now and having a full mental dilemma about being an MD vs a DO. I want to be a DO down to my SOULLLLLL but I would be so much further into debt rather than if I became an MD. I have already been accepted into one of each and the prestige and cost of the MD school is so much better but I would be so much happier at the location of the DO school and the curriculum (especially because I could see myself using OMM). If you have any advice please lmk. But thank you for this video, i feel so seen🙏🏻🙏🏻

I’m in a kind of similar situation $80,000k of debt for a career that tops out at $600-700k a year. The debt is worth it I think

I feel like this is why masters programs like PA NP CRNA and CAA are becoming more and more prevalent. you have wayy less in debt and I feel like the pay is a better ratio compared with DO

The Army paid for med school. I wasn’t always happy with that decision I made as a college senior but overall it was such a gift. Debt free besides mortage just 5 years out from residency. Working on saving for kids college and retirement. We would NEVER be in this financial position with loans.
