Cleaning fees are the reason I just stay at hotels instead!

I guess I'm not a shitty host? I don't have any rules And I have never charged a cleaning fee. I stock the fridge with sodas and water, make cookies and bread for the guests and leave a personalized welcome card. I don't want them to do anything but enjoy themselves. my one request is to make sure that my cats didn't sneak in their car before they leave. 😂😂😂😂 We are a farm Airbnb. I wouldn't even ask that but it happened once.

The way hosts are responding is the exact reason why I’m strictly hotels

Marriott Hotel and Suites is $249 a night. A full service Marriott with three eateries and room service. Top that ABNB

Know who doesn't ask me for a cleaning fee or to clean? Hotels.

Tbh, I think properties on Airbnb need to be audited. Many properties have old pictures up. I’m tired of going to an air bnb where the pictures are 10 years old and you get there and the house is run down looking.

AirBnB was never meant for hotel turnaround but that is what some have attempted to create. Hosts/Prop management have created the mess they are in. Sow to the wind>reap the whirlwind

The real question is: why is anyone still talking about Airbnb in 2026? I would rather set my own hair on fire than use them again.

The last thing people want to do on vacation is more chores. I don't like staying in Airbnb. The entire experience is weird.

I wonder how much they’ll increase cleaning fees over the next 12-18 months

With the fees and list of demands/rules, I’m just staying in a hotel.

there are decent hotels with hot breakfast for less than 200.

I also think it’s crazy that they ask for you to start a load of laundry or a load of dishes. The dishes should be washed correctly by a cleaner for sanitation. The same for laundry, it needs to have bleach or sanitizer. Nasty.

I saw an Airbnb that asked the guest not to come in after 10pm! It wasn’t even a shared space! Nope 👎🏻 I am not a teenager with a curfew

Not to mention check in times sometimes are after 4 pm and you have to be gone by the next day 10 am if it’s not a multiple night stay imagine doing all that

Long over due for guests. It was wrong to charge a high cleaning fee and then impose all these chores. That was why so many people have migrated back to hotels

The last Airbnb I stayed in we had a checkout list, put used dishes in dishwasher and start it, pull sheets off the bed and place them outside your room, put used towels in washer and start and also take out the trash. It is totally ridiculous. And yes we were charged a cleaning fee. So with this policy I’m sure the cleaning fee will go up.

This is right on. It’s wild that they have you clean AND pay for cleaning. This is why I stay in hotels also.

Loading dishwasher- fine. Doing laundry- hell no. But I will put all the towels in front of the washer or in a tub. I don’t vacation to do chores.

I like this policy. they charge a cleaning fee, why an i cleaning? sure you should pick up after yourself but I'm not cleaning if you're charging a fee.

I'll never pay for an Airbnb. I'll always choose a hotel. I don't particularly care for people buying up housing just to use them as Airbnbs and then charge you outrageous prices and make you do chores when on vacation.

I super want to cut into their time if they charge me $150-300 to cut into their time. Jk I switched back to hotels 5 years ago because it made financial sense. Even with dogs and family.
