@jadecline_: What is your take on this? I feel like if you’re driving a vehicle that weighs thousands of tons. There should be more responsibility and testing put into it. Not just a one and done testing. It’s a really big responsibility to yourself and other people on the road and I think it should be taking more seriously. What do you think?
I feel like once we hit 50’s people should have to get tested at least every 5-10 years and once you’re 75+ you shouldn’t be able to drive. It’s literally dangerous. AND if you have medical/health issues that can affect your driving your license should be taken away

Agree. I think also at the age of retirement they should have to retest because their vision needs to be retested, etc…

When I was 18, I did the computer test, got handed a permit, was told I could come back 30 days later to take the driving test, did that, passed it, was told I could get my license.🤷♀️I was just in court yesterday fight a bs ticket I was given. I was involved in an accident a few weeks back. One person fled, due to them fleeing it made me look to be at fault for the accident. However the cop also never talked to me for my side or to get my dash cam footage. He only asked for my licenses, insurance information, and then handed me a ticket and told me how to deal with it. I didn't think about it at the time because I was so shaken up and just cared more about the fact that myself and my family was okay, but once I settled down I was beyond annoyed I didn't get to tell my side or show the dash cam. Anyways, I showed the dash cam footage in court yesterday and ticket was instantly dismissed.

I completely agree! esp. for old people! after retirement age they should have to do testing way more often. they be blind and deaf, on medications and still out on the road... 🤨

It’s so much harder in the UK, you have to be 17. You take a theory test first and can’t do you practical until you have passed it. Have to have looooads of lessons and then the test itself is pretty hard. Loads of people fail the first time!

I agree! Should have to do updates every so often, and if you commit a driving offence intentionally - immediate loss of licence, car to the impound and minimum number of lessons prior to retest! Urgent and Emergency care nurse here.. I’ve seen a lot due to sh177y drivers!

do you guys not have staged licensing? for us (Ontario, Canada) we have the "learners" which is called a G1. You do a 40 question written test. half on rules and regulations, the other half on signs. You're also only allowed to get 4 wrong and must be over the age of 16. during the time you have your learners you must drive with a fully licensed driver with minimum 4 years of driving experience. You have to old that for 1 year before you can go to step 2 which is your G2, the road test, but not major highways. You do basic maneuvers on the road. Then you have to wait another year with that before you can take your second and final road test, G license which is your highway test. Then only once you've done all these steps, you are fully licensed.

So at least in my state we check your driving record anytime you do anything with your Drivers license and if you have been been pulled over 3 times in 4 years you have to take the test . Now as you get passed the age of 64 you either have to come in so we can physically see you or you have to go see your doctors to ok you to keep driving . I may or may not work at the dmv 😏
