@monieelyse: If I’m being honest, some of the foods I bought are still influenced by my illness. I gravitate toward fat-free options, lower-calorie alternatives, and foods that feel safer because I’m still learning to let go of those rules. But there are also fear foods in this haul. Mayonnaise. Crispy chicken. A big ahh bottle of honey mustard. You know, foods that might feel scary because of the beliefs i have long convinced myself to be facts, but also the very same foods that I absolutely LOVE and genuinely enjoy the taste of. There was also a time in the near past I would only consume liquids. The thought of eating a solid food would send me into a complete meltdown. And I think it’s important to acknowledge both sides of my recovery. I can recognize that some of my choices are still influenced by my illness, while also celebrating the fact that I’m making room for foods I love, even when they challenge me. I don’t want to spend my life avoiding foods I genuinely enjoy anymore. I’ve done this for far too many years of my life. One of the most important parts of my recovery is having individualized treatment that meets me where I am and helps me gradually challenge those fears. Maybe right now I’m still choosing keto bread because regular bread feels overwhelming. But the goal isn’t to eat keto bread forever because it feels safer. The goal is to get to a place where I can choose whatever bread I want, eat it without guilt or fear, and not give it a second thought. I’m not pretending I’m completely free from my eating disorder’s influence. I’m showing up, challenging myself, and making choices that move me closer to that freedom. I can acknowledge the rules I’m still unlearning while celebrating the ones I’m already breaking. Because recovery isn’t about proving you’re fearless. It’s about building a life where fear no longer gets to decide what you can and cannot enjoy. 🤍 #groceryhaul #groceryshopwithme #foodfreedomjourney @Real Good Foods @Sola @latitude45 @G Hughes Zero Sugar @Ken’s Steak House Dressings @MiracleWhip @Little Leaf Farms @Oscar Mayer @Progresso @Kraft Natural Cheese & Parm @Bob Evans

okay so I looked into the sola bread & carb smart has better macros! sola bagels are life though. especially the blueberry. carb smart bagels taste like cardboard and booty.

when I was in ED recovery some sweet old lady looked at me and said "bravery isn't the absence of fear. It's knowing fear is present and pushing forward." I held onto that for years. Im proud of you 🩵 you're doing fantastic 🫂

There’s definitely still really significant nutritional gaps, but I appreciate that you’re trying and I’m sure each week it’ll get easier to add something else

old habits are hard to break for sure. I am in recovery for addiction and they say for every year you used it takes 5 years to rebuild. Now, I don't know how true that is, but give yourself grace and don't beat yourself up. It didn't take you overnight to get where you are and it won't take overnight to get where you're going! 🩷🩷
