Please donโ€™t let fear be the reason he loses his chance at life. When Kiko first arrived at the shelter, he was terrified and reacted defensively when approached. But one patient volunteer refused to give up on him. After visiting him daily and offering treats under his kennel door, Kiko finally trusted her enough to go outside. โค๏ธ ๐ŸŒŸ LOOK AT THE PROGRESS THIS BOY HAS MADE! ๐Ÿพ Warms up with treats and takes them gently ๐Ÿพ Knows SIT! ๐Ÿพ Solicits pets once he feels comfortable ๐Ÿพ Enjoys exploring outside and sniffing all the smells ๐Ÿพ Walked pretty well on leash and was easy to leash for his volunteer ๐Ÿพ Showed little reaction to dogs in the play yard ๐Ÿพ Has a loose, wiggly body once he relaxes Kiko is shy and fearful in the shelter, but his recent volunteer interactions show that he can begin to trust when someone gives him patience, kindness, and time. He needs a calm, experienced person who will respect his boundaries and allow him to adjust at his own pace. โค๏ธ ๐Ÿ’” Kiko is only 5 years old. He is neutered, weighs 55 pounds, and is heartworm positive. He also arrived underweight, with a body condition score of 2/9. He deserves proper nutrition, veterinary care, and the opportunity to feel safe. His history includes fear-related reactions toward unfamiliar people, so careful handling and a structured environment are essential.
