It’s located literally next to an elementary and the amount of times I’ve seen people exposed at the sunrise center I can’t count with one hand! They need to be moved!! Yes APD helps WHEN they are passing out food/giving services but the people linger in the area,

So you are wanting to sequester people experiencing homelessness away from the community, when these are generally people who need support? How do you expect people who utilize these services to continue doing so if the center is located away from the city center? Could the rise in crime in the area since 2015 be better correlated to the ~9% increase in Austin population? Or maybe the lack overnight shelter beds (1 to every 5 unhoused)? What about lack of healthcare/mental health assistance? Moving this singular center doesn’t resolve the worsening systemic issues exacerbating homelessness.

Right across the street ftom a grade school. Two years ago my husband was walking our dog by there and a homeless chased him with a brick. A good Samaritan pulled her SUV between them. We both pack now.
