I made 7 changes that reduced my autism symptoms. Here's exactly what I did and why. If you want more in depth reasons and research, I discuss how autism may be primarily caused and worsened by inflammation in my book AUTISM CLARITY, which contains more than 800 scientific sources. 1. Cut processed food. I believe most of the processed food in a typical grocery store is terrible for health. 2. Cut gluten and casein. If those proteins don't fully break down in digestion, they may trigger inflammatory responses in people who are sensitive to them, and doctor's tests don't always catch that. An elimination diet for 30 to 60 days is the more reliable way to find out for yourself. 3. Cut added sugar. Sugar strongly releases dopamine, which is part of why it's addictive. Running your body mostly on sugar instead of fat may create more inflammation. 4. Got morning sunlight within 30 minutes of waking and was in bed by 9pm. That's when melatonin fully releases, and melatonin isn't just for sleep, it also works as an antioxidant that helps clean up inflammation in your cells. 5. Shifted my biggest meal earlier in the day. Your body's tolerance for processing sugar tends to shift across the day, so eating a big meal late at night can add to inflammation and disrupt melatonin release. This lack of melatonin can increase your inflammation. 6. Moved my body more. Being too sedentary lowers your ability to regulate blood sugar and slows your antioxidant enzymes. 7. Made real time for chess, history, and the things I love. Without that joy, stress builds up, and stress adds to inflammation too. This is what worked for me. Which one surprises you most? #ActuallyAutistic #AutisticAdults #AutismHealthCoaching #AntiInflammatoryDiet #GutBrainConnection
